Napoli defender Paolo Cannavaro could be leaving Stadio San Paolo at the earliest opportunity, according to the player’s official representative.
The experienced centre-back has lost his place in the side following the arrival of Rafa Benitez, and he is clearly unhappy with his current status.
With the 32-year-old only handed two Serie A starts this season, everything suggests he will be leaving the Azzurri in search of first team football.
The player’s official representative has moved to confirm reports linking his client with a January move away from the club.
“Within the next month, things can change, but even if they don’t, a clarification will be necessary,” agent Enrico Fedelo told Radio Crc.
“This is a new moment for him and I certainly cannot say that he is happy.”
Paolo Cannavaro had started his career at Napoli, but he went on to play for Parma and Verona before returning to his boyhood club in 2006.
The experienced defender has since made a total of 236 Serie A appearances for the Azzurri, scoring 8 goals in the process.
Sitting three points adrift of league leaders Roma, Napoli are 4/1 for the Serie A title.
