(GSM) – AC Milan announced on Tuesday the signing of Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos on a contract for a rumored transfer fee of €5 million from Italian rivals Genoa.
The 22-year-old center half was on Greece’s squad for the recently-completed World Cup in South Africa and was in the team for two of his side’s matches.
The deal with Genoa is also reported to include a clause for co-ownership of three young Milan players for Genoa.
Papastathopoulos’ signing comes a day after the Rossoneri agreed a two-year contract extension with goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, and new manager Massimiliano Allegri will be delighted to get a young boost in the back four.
The length of the Papastathopoulos contract at the San Siro is not immediately known.
