Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is keen to sign Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey following his weekend wonder-goal against Aston Villa, according to the Mirror.
The North East side into this evening’s match at Arsenal on the back of a run which has seen them lose nine of their last twelve games, including each of their last five, and their boss is only too aware that he needs to strengthen in the summer after watching the capitulation from the stands.
No team has a lower net spend in the Premier League over the past five years, though recent figures have revealed that the money is there for a rebuild when the transfer window reopens.
Pardew gave Shelvey his professional debut at Charlton Athletic, and he is keen to be reunited with the England international who has impressed in his debut season at Swansea City with six goals in thirty league appearances.
