Former West Ham United and Charlton Athletic boss Alan Pardew has made his first signing as Southampton manager by snapping up former Brighton, Leeds and Ipswich full-back Dan Harding.

The 25-year-old arrives on a free transfer having been released by the Tractor Boys at the end of last season following loan spells with Southend and Reading.

Harding had been training with Brighton over the summer but has now agreed a two-year deal at St Mary’s.
