Spanish midfielder Daniel Parejo is in talks over signing a new contract at Mestalla, reports Marca.
In spite of the slow start to his career at Valencia, the 25-year-old has developed into a key player for los Che and was recently handed the captain’s armband as well as the number 10 shirt.
Together with striker Paco Alcacer, Parejo is set to be offered an extension to his contract that is due to expire in June 2016.
Having rejected Liverpool’s interest in their star player in the summer, Valencia officials aim to persuade the player into signing a new deal that should see the current €25 million release clause increased.
While the talks between the two parties have already begun, it remains to be seen if they will be able to find an agreement over the player’s wage.
Parejo is currently the third highest-paid footballer in the squad and his gross wage stands at €1.6 million.
