Manchester United match-winner Park Ji-Sung is caught between club and country, as he will miss seven games for the Reds on national duty.
The South Korean midfielder scored the winner in United’s 1-0 win over title rivals Arsenal on Monday.
He also scored a brace, including a late winner, against Wolves in November, enhancing his reputation as a big-game player.
He will fly out of England shortly after Boxing Day to play at the Asian Cup in January, although his absence from the United side could be shortened depending on how far South Korea progress.
Park is unsure how to feel about representing his country while United continue their push for the league title.
“I have mixed feelings about the Asian Cup. At the moment I am playing with confidence, so I do feel a bit strange about going. But I am always happy to join my national team as well,” Park said.
“Even without me, Manchester United have enough players to keep winning, so I will concentrate on the national team and then focus on Manchester United.”
Park admitted his header on Monday was unconventional.
“It was a strange goal,” Park said.
“The ball changed direction so I had to move suddenly.”
“I thought it was going to hit the post. But finally it went in and I was able to celebrate. It was a good goal for me and the team.”
