Parma snatch Benfica youngster

Parma have announced the signing of midfielder Danilo Pereira from Benfica, after the club had won the race with Inter, Juventus and Genoa for the talented footballer.

The 18-year-old will be presented to the media today and he will sign a five-year contract with the Serie A side.

“Parma FC announce they have reached an agreement for the signing on a permanent basis of midfielder Danilo Pereira, who spent last season at Benfica,” read the statement on club’s official website.

“The official presentation will be tomorrow afternoon in the Press room of the Collecchio training ground in the presence of Parma general manager Pietro Leonardi.”

Pereira is the product of Benfica youth academy, and after he rejected the offer to extend his contract which was due to expire at the end of the season, the Eagles were forced to sell him for as little as 150,000 euros.
