(GSM) – South Africa manager Carlos Alberto Parreira will not be punished by FIFA following his criticism of referee Massimo Busacca. The Brazilian coach was angry at the Swiss official’s decision to award a penalty to Uruguay in his side’s 3-0 defeat in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Ajax striker Luis Suarez went down theatrically and won a penalty as a challenge from goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune saw the latter get sent off.
Diego Forlan converted the penalty as Parreira stood in frustration on the touchlines.
The 67-year-old said he was “very angry and very disappointed” of the referee’s performance following the match and claimed that the referee cost his side the game.
However, FIFA has announced that Parreira will not face any disciplinary action.
“Yes, we have looked at it and no elements have been found by the disciplinary committee to open an investigation,” spokesman Nicolas Maingot said.
“This is because there was no violation of the Fifa disciplinary code.”
