According to a recent report from AS, Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has rejected the interest from Premier League club Arsenal and will instead sign a new deal with the Spanish giants. He is set to double his current wages to £130,000-per-week, which will also ensure that his release clause goes up to €100 million.
Partey heading to the Emirates has felt like a foregone conclusion for weeks now, but clearly, that’s no longer the case.
Many Gunners fans have been dreaming of Partey linking up with Xhaka and even Ceballos in a dominant midfield three, but it appears as if Mikel Arteta will now have to go back to the drawing board.
It’s going to be a summer transfer window of real importance for Arsenal, and if they can’t get the man that is considered to be their number one target, problems could start to arise behind the scenes in North London.
