French media outlet L’Equipe understands that Javier Pastore is set to sign a lucrative new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
With his current deal due to expire in just over a year, the Argentine was linked with a summer exit, as a number of high-profile clubs expressed their interest in his services.
However, it appears that PSG officials have managed to persuade him to stay, having offered him a huge pay rise on his current €4.2 million yearly salary.
According to L’Equipe, Pastore is expected to sign a new contract worth €6.5 million per season and running until June 2019 in the coming days.
Even if he initially struggled to justify the hefty price tag, the 25-year-old developed into an important player for the Saints, and he has managed 2 goals and 5 assists in 22 Ligue 1 outings this term.
After missing a great chance to defeat Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League tie, PSG can be backed at 2/1 to qualify for the quarter-finals.
