Arsenal have agreed to allow Charlie Patino, currently playing for Blackpool on loan, to leave on a permanent basis this summer, as revealed by Charles Watts of Goal.com.
Patino was 11 years old when he was spotted by an Arsenal scout while playing for Luton Town’s Under-13 side. He was recognized as a huge talent, tipped to go all the way through the academy ranks and break into the first team as the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have done before him.
However, things obviously didn’t turn out like that. With the Gunners set to compete in the Champions League next season, their need to increase the squad depth with ready-made players is great, and if 19-year-old Patino couldn’t get game-time before (he only made two senior appearances for the Gunners), he certainly wouldn’t be getting any from 2023/24.
With his contract expiring at the end of the ongoing campaign, he will obviously leave Arsenal as a free agent.
