AC Milan received a second blow of bad news on Friday as Brazilian striker Pato was ruled out of Sunday’s crucial Milan derby against champions Inter.
Pato came off in the second half of Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Palermo with a thigh problem.
Milan confirmed on Friday that he has a pulled muscle and will be out for about six weeks.
On Thursday, Milan revealed that Filippo Inzaghi, who replaced Pato on Wednesday but himself limped off only 15 minutes later, had torn his cruciate knee ligament and would need an operation.
That seemed to rule Inzaghi out for the rest of the season but Milan now say that the player and club’s medical staff are re-assessing the possibility of going under the knife.
