Patrice Evra, who heavily criticized Wayne Rooney last week, has now changed his opinion by saying he would leave the club if United could no longer fight for trophies.
With his contract expiring in June 2012, Evra seems to be following Rooney’s footsteps in trying to work out a new deal at the club.
“I will not play any more for this club if I know we are not strong enough to win the league. This is why we play for Man United,” he said.
”I think everyone needs to just focus on doing their jobs very well and we will see at the end of the season.”
The Frenchman also wants the more experienced players to help keep United on the right track following the recent upsets.
”Every experienced player has to take responsibility and tell the younger ones how lucky they are to play for United. The message is to respect the shirt because it has a big history.”
