The 26-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract with the Villains, after the two clubs reached an agreement on a reported fee of €33 million.
Torres joined Villarreal from Malaga in 2019 and made a total of 173 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, playing an important role in their 2021 Europa League triumph.

The Saudi club are believed to have agreed to pay a sum of €40 million for the services of the 28-year-old midfielder, widely considered among the best players in the Serie A over the last couple of seasons.
The Serbia international arrived to Rome from KRC Genk back in 2015, and over the eight years gone since, he made a total of 341 appearances in all competitions for Lazio, scoring 69 goals and contributing 59 assists.
Newcastle interested in Dimarco
Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan.
Apparently, the Magpies have already approached last season’s Champions League finalists, asking about their demands for letting the pacey wing-back leave. Given the significance of the 25-year-old in everything Inter achieved in 2022/23, it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri would be willing to do a deal.
Could Bayern switch focus to Alvares amid Kane frustration?
Bayern Munich have been interested in signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur to end their search for a new striker, but the responses they got from the North Londoners have so far been negative, despite Kane reportedly being willing to make the move.
According to a more recent report, the Bundesliga champions could be switching their focus on another target – Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
The Argentina international has largely been in the immense shadow of Erling Haaland at the Etihad so far, despite his notable exploits at the World Cup in Qatar where his country lifted the greatest trophy in the game.
It’s also been said that City laughed the interest off, showing a strong desire to keep hold of the 23-year-old forward, but it would certainly be interesting to see how hard they’d be laughing if Alvarez, hypothetically of course, asks to leave in search of regular game-time.
Liverpool to test Chelsea resolve over Colwill
Liverpool are reportedly preparing an official bid for the services of young Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.
The Merseysiders have been heavily linked with the 19-year-old in the last couple of days, and it is believed they would jump at the chance to sign him should such a possibility present itself. Chelsea, on the other hand, are said to be adamant about not selling the player who played a major role in England’s triumphant UEFA Euro Under-21 campaign.
