Desperate to end 2018 on another high note, a resurgent Manchester United side will welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side, after bringing in the Norweigan legend to replace Jose Mourinho earlier in the month, few would have expected the Reds’ turnaround. Putting five past Cardiff last weekend, the first time they have done that since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, United are also coming off the back of another impressive showing in their 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Boxing Day. One man to watch for Sunday’s hosts will be midfielder Paul Pogba. The World Cup winner scored a brace against the Terriers in midweek and has been directly involved in four of United’s last nine goals.
As for the visitors, in stark contrast to Manchester United, things could not be going any worse for Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side. Coming off the back of a season-worst showing in their 5-0 hammering away at Tottenham on Boxing Day, the Cherries have lost four of their last five Premier League matches and look set to enter the New Year in the bottom half of the table. Along with now recording just one clean sheet since October, Howe’s side have also drastically struggled on the road. Highlighted by their defeat at Wembley, Bournemouth have lost their last five away games on the bounce.
