Odds: 7/5 @ Bet 365
With their sights once again set on securing a surprise top-four finish, Manchester United will travel to St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.
Starting with Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side, coming off the back of a 1-1 draw away at Watford on Saturday, the Magpies have entered the New Year with a limp. With a 1-0 win over Huddersfield back on the 15th of December their only Premier League victory in their last seven attempts, it will be their recent form in the final third most concerning fans around St. James’ Park. Newcastle have now managed to find the net just once in their last three appearances and Wednesday’s hosts have now failed to win a match in the North East since the middle of November.
As for the visitors, after bringing in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month, few around Old Trafford would have expected Manchester United’s impressive turnaround. Picking up a 4-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, the Reds have now won their last three on the bounce and their new attacking style is certainly catching the eye. Scoring 12 in their last three outings, one man who appears to be relishing Solskjaer’s arrival is midfielder Paul Pogba. Scoring a brace against the Cherries on Saturday, the Frenchman has now scored four goals in his last two matches.
