French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that Marseille may decide to cash in on star player Dimitri Payet in the summer.
The French giants are set to stay without Andre-Pierre Gignac and Andre Ayew, whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season.
And with club chairman Vincent Labrune looking to further trim down the wage bill, attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet could be sacrificed as well.
Namely, the 27-year-old is Marseille’s highest paid footballer, with his gross salary standing at €4.2 million per year, and there is a good chance he will be made available for sale in the summer transfer window.
Having enjoyed another impressive campaign, scoring 6 goals and producing another 11, Payet should have no shortage of offers at the end of the current season.
And after playing for Nantes, Saint Etienne, Lille and Marseille, chances are the highly rated footballer will be leaving France altogether.
