Sampdoria stirker Giampaolo Pazzini wants to maintain his good form to get into the Italy national teams line up for the World Cup.

The Italian has been outstanding this term at Marassi and has scored seven goals to help the tea keep pace with the leading pack in Serie A.

“I hope to return to La Nazionale, but I need to keep up the good performances and score plenty in order to do so,” Pazzini told Sky Sport Italia.

One player who is also hoping for a call is Antonio Cassano. Pazzini has hailed the Bari-born man, claiming he is one of the best he has ever played with.

“Cassano is always a positive guy with great talent. He is one of the strongest players that I have worked with,” added Pazzini.

With the national team call ups left in the hands of Marcello Lippi, Pazzini preferred to focus on domestic matters at club level. The striker feels Inter are on another level as the Nerazzurri sit comfortably at the top of the table.

“If we are second in the league it’s because we deserve it. Inter? They are very strong. They always have been. I think they have something more than the rest,” continued the Italian.

“As for us? We have been doing well and we hope to continue doing so week after week.”
