England caretaker manager Stuart Pearce admits he is interested in leading the Three Lions at the Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
The England Under-21 manager took over the reigns of the senior national team on temporary basis as Fabio Capello stepped down from the post and he is set to be at the helm of the Three Lions in the friendly against Netherlands on Wednesday.
The Football Association chiefs are currently short listing candidates they believe would be capable of succeeding Capello at the helm, with Harry Redknapp the number one favourite for the coveted job.
The Tottenham Hotspur manager has admitted interest in the England job, but he doesn’t want to leave Spurs before the season ends in May.
That means that Stuart Pearce could be given a chance to lead the Three Lions in Poland and Ukraine and the former Manchester City boss believes he is ready for the task ahead.
“I am available and I have tournament experience if they (the FA) need me to step into the breach in the summer,” Pearce said at a press conference at Wembley.
“That is obviously a decision for the employees here. They know exactly where I am, they know exactly what I want to do.
“If they need me to take the squad in the summer I will do that with pleasure. If they need me to coach a manager that is coming through the door, I will do that with pleasure as well.
“Beyond that, at this moment in time, I consider myself after the summer the Team GB manager and Under 21 manager.”
