Pedro: Messi is better than Maradona

(GSM) – Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been on fire in the last few games and has gained praise from various admirers. Recently, Barca chairman Joan Laporta already said he believes Messi is the best footballer in the world and now teammate Pedro has backed Laporta’s opinion.

After the last gala performance of the Argentine wonderchild against Real Zaragoza, Laporta heaped praise on the 22-year-old: “He is the best player in the world and the best in the history of football. Along with (Johan) Cruyff and (Diego) Maradona, he is the best player we have seen at Barca.”

Now, Spanish forward Pedro has uttered similar words. “In my opinion, Leo is better than Maradona,” Pedro said on the club’s official website. “I play alongside him, I see him every day and I believe he’s the best.”

“Maradona was the best player in history, but Messi is very young and has achieved a great deal. I think he’s already overtaken Maradona”.

Pedro also praised Messi for his behaviour off the pitch. “When my friends ask me what Messi is like I always say that he’s modest, hard-working, reserved, calm and very friendly. What you see is the way he is”.
