Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo has learned that Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez was on the verge of joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The Spain international was disappointed with the treatment under Gerardo Martino at the time and seriously considered leaving Camp Nou.
Pedro was ready to move to Arsenal when an offer from North London arrived, but he ultimately changed his mind as it was revealed that Martino would be leaving the club.
After being reassured about his status by new boss Luis Enrique and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, the 27-year-old decided to stay put, with the Gunners ultimately signing Alexis Sanchez instead.
Pedro, who has another two years left on his deal at Camp Nou, is again being linked with a move away from the club, but chances are he will be offered a contract extension by the Catalans.
Barcelona lead the chase in Spanish La Liga after seven rounds, and they can be backed at 5/6 to lift the league title.
