Napoli are stepping up their interest in Sampdoria starlet Pedro Obiang, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Azzurri have a transfer strategy in place that allows them to sign quality players that are at an early stage of their careers and the 22-year-old midfielder certainly fits the bill.
Despite his fragile age, Obiang is now playing his fourth season as a regular starter for Sampdoria and he has seen his name linked with quite a few top European sides.
Napoli appear to be leading the chase at the moment and they are widely expected to make a concrete move either in January or next summer.
Pedro Obiang had come through the youth ranks at Atletico Madrid before moving to Sampdoria in 2008.
He went on to nail down a regular starting berth shortly after being promoted to the senior squad, and has so far featured in 104 league matches for the Bluecerchiati.
