Pedro Rodriguez has decided he doesn’t want to stay at Chelsea past the end of this month, having agreed a deal to join AS Roma this summer, according to The Athletic.
The former Barcelona forward will be out of contract at the end of June, and though Chelsea have been hoping to persuade him to sign a short-term extension to enable them to count on him for the rest of the 2019/20 season, which should stretch past July and into August for the Londoners, he has refused their offer. Apart from the nine remaining fixtures in the Premier League, Chelsea are also set to play Leicester City in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, and they are yet to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The 32-year-old Spaniard has apparently agreed a two-year deal with Roma, with the Serie A club having the option to extend it for further 12 months. He should be earning around €60,000 per week, and he is unwilling to put the move at any risk.
