Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly contacted his former club Barcelona over the availability of Spanish midfield maestro Andres Iniesta.
The experienced playmaker is running out of contract with Catalan giants next summer and is yet to renew his deal. Barcelona have indeed offered a new deal to Iniesta, but the club captain has some doubts and could opt against renewing his contract at Camp Nou.
The 33-year-old Spanish international has endured a mixed season at Barcelona. Iniesta struggled with injury whereas ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique rotated Iniesta in order to keep him fresh for most important games.
Despite his limited playing time, Andres Iniesta was once again one of the most influential players at Barcelona, but he wants to see how the immediate future pans out before he commits to a new contract with the Catalans.
According to the reports from Metro, Pep Guardiola is trying to exploit the current situation and convince his former player to join him at the Etihad Stadium.
