Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen on a deal for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail. The report has claimed that City, who won the Premier League title last season, wanted to sign Guimaraes in the summer of 2024, but they did not want to pay his £100 million release clause.
City, linked with Jeremie Frimpong, signed İlkay Gündoğan in the summer of 2024, but the Citizens want to bring in another midfielder in the middle of the season. Manager Guardiola loves the way Bruno plays and wants him in his squad for the second half of the season and beyond, but it remains to be seen if Newcastle would be open to selling the Brazil international midfielder.
Bruno has been on the books of Newcastle since January 2022 when he joined from Lyon. The 27-year-old has established himself as a key figure in the Newcastle first team. The Brazilian midfielder has scored 56 goals and given 46 assists in 173 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
