Pepe unhappy with current Arsenal role

Speaking in an interview with French television Canal Plus, Nicolas Pepe admitted being unhappy about his current role at Arsenal.

The winger, who remains the Gunners’ record signing since he arrived from Lille OSC in the summer of 2019 for £72 million, has only been a regular member of the starting XI in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League this season. In the Premier League, he has started only once (the 1-0 defeat away to Manchester City), and has made six more appearances off the bench. Not many record signings have such a status at their respective clubs, especially not over a year after arriving.

The 25-year-old winger appeared frustrated as he pointed out that he continuously gives his best in training which is, of course, being asked of him, only to learn that he wouldn’t be starting the following game. He added that a player who plays is happy, and he would like to play more to ‘find a smile’ again.
