“Our success made us lose our intensity,” Perez explained.
“We have to recover it. These players and this coach made us champions, so they’ll do it again.
“Last season wasn’t good and we have to reflect on the criticism.”
Those are the words of Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez who has opened up about the club’s shortcomings in the last few months. This comes in the wake of great speculation over possible issues between the president and the returning Zinedine Zidane, who is attempting to guide the club back towards the top of European and Spanish football.
It’s obvious to see that these issues aren’t going to go away overnight, and the biggest problem of all appears to be communication. There is no cohesion whatsoever between the two parties and until that issue is somewhat rectified, they will continue to trail behind the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool on the biggest stages.
