French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that former Chelsea star Michael Essien has been released from his contract at Persib.
The 35-year-old joined the Indonesian side on a free transfer from Panathinaikos a year ago and went on to score 5 goals in 29 league outings.
However, with the league deciding to limit the number of foreign players to four per squad, Persib chiefs decided to let Essien leave.
The Ghanaian is expected to join league rivals Bali United, but it’s probably time for him to start considering saying farewell to the game.
Having previously represented Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan, Michael Essien’s career has clearly taken a turn for the worse.
