Competition: League One
Market: Peterborough win
Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport
Hoping to extend their buffer at the top of the table this weekend, Peterborough will make the trip to the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, eventually hit with what was the most dramatic of 4-3 defeats against Shrewsbury on home soil in the EFL Trophy earlier in the week, Crewe do find themselves in the midst of what has been an extended blip. While the Reds might have managed to extend on their FA Cup adventure away at fellow strugglers Bolton last week, the Railwaymen have lost four of their last five matchups across all competitions and still find themselves firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone. In for a tough test when the league leaders come to town this weekend, it should also be noted that Crewe hold what is a woeful record on home soil. Including that FA Trophy defeat in midweek, David Artell’s men have lost each of their last three straight appearances at the Alexandra Stadium.
As for the visitors, while an altered Peterborough might have suffered a penalties defeat away at Cambridge in the EFL Trophy earlier in the week, the Posh have continued to cement their spot as League One’s favourites this season. Last seen on third-tier duties picking up a deserved 2-0 win away at Bristol Rovers and also progressing their own FA Cup adventure with victory away at Oxford last week, the Posh already find themselves holding a three-point buffer at the top of the table and enjoying a real League One romp. Including what was a thumping 5-1 win against Shrewsbury when closing October, Darren Ferguson’s men have collected 22 points from their last eight third-flight matchups, a run that has seen them pick up victories against the likes of Hull. Also winning each of their last four League One contests on the road, we’re backing an away victory on Saturday.
