Bayern Munich forward Nils Petersen has revealed he is disappointed with his lack of first-team opportunities.
The 23-year-old joined Bayern from Energie Cottbus in the off-season and has scored four goals from his 12 appearances in all competitions.
The re-emergence of Croatian striker Ivica Olic has seen Petersen fall out of favour though, and although he pledged to continue working hard, his unhappiness was obvious.
“At the beginning of the season I played a few times in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and even in the Champions League,” Petersen exclusively told Goal.com.
“Of course I’m disappointed (with my situation). I’m no longer striker number two and that means little or no playing time.”
“I must continue to work on my game and then hopefully I’ll get opportunities. I must be patient.”
Petersen was the top scorer in the German second-tier last season, netting 25 goals in 33 appearances for his former club.
