Good news and bad news for Manchester City and their Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov. First the good news. It has been discovered that his knee injury is not the dreaded anterior cruciate ligament. The bad news is that he is still likely to miss at least three months and is unlikely to be back before February next year.
City boss Mark Hughes said: “It not his anterior cruciate ligament this time, he’s got a tear in his meniscus that will need to be repaired. Although it’s good news about the ACL it’s still a bad injury and he will be out for three or four months.”
Petrov was injured playing for his country against Georgia and had only just returned to action following a hamstring injury.
