Petrov ready for contract talks

Aston Villa star Stiliyan Petrov has revealed he is ready for contract talks with the club.

Villa gaffer Martin O’Neill has indicated that he is ready to discuss a new deal with the former Celtic star, who has just 18 months left on his current deal.

“The manager has been talking about doing it (starting talks),” said Petrov.

“I am happy. I am one of the boys who if the club feel I am doing well, they will sit and talk to me. If not then my life will keep going. I will not bury my head. I will keep working.

“We will see what happens.

“People know me and they know that I have always been an honest boy.

“The manager knows that when I play for somebody, then they will be the first choice of the club that I talk to.”
