Professional Footballers’ Association chief executive Gordon Taylor has criticised Carlos Tevez for continuing to disobey Manchester City.
Tevez, 27, returned to Argentina on Tuesday, causing him to miss club training on Wednesday, despite City refusing to authorise the journey.
Taylor personally represented the forward in a club disciplinary hearing in October and succeeded in reducing a fine imposed by City for alleged misconduct.
But the PFA chief has now criticised Tevez for his conduct.
“He’s in danger of burning bridges rather than reconciliation,” Taylor told BBC.
In a separate interview with Sky Sports, Taylor said: “To say the least, I am very disappointed and extremely concerned now.”
“To go out to Argentina when – as I have been informed – he was clearly told not to because (City) needed to work on his fitness, and to blatantly ignore that instruction starts to affect any chance of any reconciliation now.”
“The whole relationship between clubs and players is one where there has to be clear understanding of what is to be expected and what is not expected.”
“From that point of view, he is making it virtually impossible to have reconciliation and leaving himself very vulnerable to strong action by the club.”
A representative of Tevez has claimed the striker attempted to contact City manager Roberto Mancini on numerous occasions before flying to Argentina, without receiving a response.
