Philadelphia Union 13/20 to beat Orlando City in Thursdays US Open Cup showdown

Two sides that are vying for a spot in the semi-finals of this years US Open Cup, Philadelphia will welcome Eastern Conference rivals Orlando City to the Talen Energy Stadium on Thursday.

Starting with Jim Curtin’s Philadelphia side, although the hosts may sit three points adrift of the playoffs in the East, The Union have bounced back from their two defeats earlier in the month and will enter Thursdays quarterfinal rightfully as the favorite. Coming off the back of a 1-0 win over Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, Philadelphia have now scored five in their last two and also came away win a 5-1 win the last time they faced off against Orlando at the Talen Energy Stadium.

As for James O’Connor’s Orlando side, although the visitors are coming off the back of a 2-1 win over Toronto that ended their three-match losing run, The Lions still sit five points adrift of the playoffs. Along with struggling in the West, The Purples have now recorded just one clean sheet since the start of April and have also struggled away from the Orlando City stadium. Aside from a win over USL side Miami City last month, Orlando have lost their last six matches on the road and have also shipped 11 in their last three away matches.
