Competition: US Open Cup

Market: Philadelphia Union win

Odds: 8/13 @ Bet 365

With a spot in this summers US Open Cup final still up for grabs, Jim Curtin’s Philadelphia side will welcome a struggling Chicago team to the Talen Energy Stadium at midnight on Thursday.

Starting with the semi-final hosts, although The Union may currently still sit outside of the playoff positions in the MLS, Jim Curtin’s side will certainly fancy their chances of securing a spot in the final of this summers US Open Cup. Despite coming off the back of a 3-0 loss to high-flyers Portland last time out, the hosts have been in fine goalscoring form and along with beating Chicago in both outings last season, Philadelphia also managed to score seven times in those two victories. One man to watch will be 26-year-old Jamaican international Cory Burke, the Union forward now has three in his last three for The Union.

As for Chicago, although they might have the likes of World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger in their ranks, The Reds have struggled drastically in the league and will certainly be the underdog come Thursday. Although they have surprised many and have saved their best performances for the Cup, Chicago are now coming off the back of a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake and the visitors have now lost six of their last seven outings in all competitions. Now holding one of the worst defensive records in either conference, along with sitting second bottom in the East, they have conceded two or more goals in all of their six defeats.
