Philadelphia Union has moved to deny rumours linking the MLS side with Italian forward Mario Balotelli.
Various reports in the United States latched on a whisper that Philadelphia Union have taken an interest in the Italian maverick adding that the MLS side are actively thinking on bringing the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker to the States.
Philadelphia Union supporters have dreamed of a big-money, marquee name that could help raise the level of performances on the pitch and boost the club’s marketability at the same time.
The club, however, refused to be dragged into false speculation and the Union sporting director Ernst Tanner was quick to rule out any interest in the 29-year-old Nice striker.
“There is not a piece of truth in that story”, Tanner said in an interview with the Inquirer.
Contrary to previous reports, Philadelphia Union have not established any contact with the Italian and will not be attempting to bring him to the MLS.
