(GSM) – Everton’s star winger Steven Pienaar insists he is unaware of reported interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern München.
The Bavarian giants are reported to be considering a move for the South African play maker as they look at possible replacements for Franck Ribery.
Ribery is widely expected to depart Bayern this summer and it seems they are now looking for possible new recruits.
Pienaar’s name has been mentioned, and he is no stranger to the Bundesliga having previously played for Borussia Dortmund.
The 27-year-old, who has just 18 months left on his current deal at Goodison Park, joined Everton in 2007-08 from Dortmund after a successful loan stint at the Merseyside.
And with recent sterling performances, having scored goals against Arsenal and Manchester City, Pienaar has become a prime target for Bayern.
But the player himself insists he has only heard rumours about Bayern and that nothing concrete has materialised.
“I only heard about this at training when Louis Saha came to me during our warm up and said ‘I heard some rumours of Bayern Munich being interested in you’. I really don’t know anything about this myself.” Pienaar told KickOff.
