South African striker Steven Pienaar thought to have scored at least one goal this season, but that goal has now been taken away from the midfielder.

On November 30th, Everton beat Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 thanks to a 51th-minute strike from Pienaar, but the ball was deflected by Vedran Corluka. As a result, the Bosnian defender gets the own goal and Pienaar remains goalless this season.

The decision was made by the Dubious Goals Committee, which forms part of the English FA Premier League. On average, the DGC meets three to four times a season to discuss a disputed goal.

Pienaar first joined Everton on loan from Borussia Dortmund in 2007, but signed a permanent contract this summer. Last season, the player scored twice in 28 appearances.
