Pirates waiting on Ngobeni offers

Orlando Pirates say they are still waiting on official bids from clubs that have shown interest in signing midfielder Clifford Ngobeni.

The unsettled player – who has not seen much game time at Pirates so far this season – has attracted the interest of fellow Premier Soccer League outfit Golden Arrows, and is widely tipped to sign with the club, reuniting him with his coach at Ajax Cape Town, Mushin Ertugral.

Ertugral has openly declared his interest in the midfielder, who he believes will add more depth to his side, while Ngobeni is reportedly eager to make the switch as he seeks more game time.

But Orlando Pirates spokesperson Mickey Modisane told KickOff.com there have not been any formal enquiries for Ngobeni from Arrows or any other club in the League since the transfer window opened at the beginning of this month.

Modisane said the club is aware of reports linking Ngobeni to Golden Arrows and would only make their position known in the event of a formal enquiry.

“There has been a lot of reports on Ngobeni and we are aware of this,” Modisane said.

“However at this stage we are treating them as speculations. We will not comment on speculations because they will always be there. We are waiting for things to be formal.”
