(GSM) – Robert Pires intends to carry on playing football and claims he has a number of options available for him. Pires will choose where his future lies as there are a number of clubs after his signature.

Pires has been at Villarreal since 2006 after having the best period of his football career during the six seasons he spent at Arsenal. Pires accepts it will not be long before he hangs his playing boots once and for all but he insists he still has the motivation and desire to play at the highest level.

“I am happy at the moment and I have decided to continue playing football,”

“I am 36 but I still have sufficient desire to help any club.”, said Pires.

The former Gunners midfielder may follow former Premier League stars, such as his former Arsenal teammate Fredrik Ljungberg and ex-Manchester United star David Beckham, who joined MLS teams.

“At the moment I have offers from the MLS (Philadelphia Union) and some opportunities in France.”

However, Pires would prefer to remain at Villarreal and would love to help his team qualify for Europe next season.

“It is my dream though to continue at this club and I would have even more motivation were we to qualify for Europe.

“I expect to sit down with the club at the end of the season and we will evaluate the situation and come to a decision.

“I will accept whatever they decide, but I want to make it clear that I have no intention of retiring.”
