AC Milan had a dream night on Wednesday, beating Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu (2-3). Midfielder Andrea Pirlo scored Milan’s first goal of the evening and enjoyed every minute of the Champions League battle. But Milan’s playmaker knows they have to wake up out of their Madrid dream to focus on Sunday’s match against Chievo Verona. “Sunday evening’s game will surely be a different reality to the Bernabeu, but there are the same points at stake: three…”
Milan enjoyed a perfect week contrasting the bad start of the season. On Sunday they defeated Roma (2-1) and on Wednesday te Rossoneri grabbed the victory against Madrid. Andrea Pirlo looks back in delight when he thinks of the clash against Real.
“This game arrived in a decisive moment of our season,” said Pirlo on Milan’s official website. “Having won on Sunday evening thanks to a comeback against Roma allowed us to go to Madrid to play our game, to try to win.
“We succeeded, thanks to our game. Even in the first half, when we were behind, we were always aware of having all the possibilities to win the game.
“We knew that especially at the start of the season we would have had difficulties, but our group, the club and the coach have always remained together, all close, all convinced of being able to do well.
The battle against Madrid was extra special for Milan because of the reunion with former Rossoneri star Kaka.
“Kaka? It was nice meeting him again, but it was especially nice beating him (he smiles warmly). Ricky is now there, he’s happy in his new reality and it sincerely pleases us, but now we have our path.”
To keep the good streak alive, Pirlo knows Milan will have to beat Chievo in Verona on Sunday night.
“We must enter the pitch with the same will and the same motivations of Wednesday night.
“We also have to obtain a result in Verona.”
