Claudio Pizarro’s chances of earning a move to Werder Bremen are not looking good after he made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. He was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Energie Cottbus after arriving back in Bremen late on Friday morning and missing the start of training.
Coming on the back of a red card in a recent Bundesliga match for violent conduct, director of sport Klaus Allofs admitted his frustration. “It was a huge disappointment for me that that happened to a player like Pizarro,” he said.
“We signed him to act as a leading player who should serve as a role model to the others but then he was suspended for violent conduct against Karlsruhe and now this happens – he added -. We cannot accept such behaviour. We voluntarily dropped one of our weapons but we have got to live with that.”
