UEFA president Michel Platini plans to discuss transfers of underage players from one European country to another, at Friday’s meeting with 27 EU representatives.
The meeting will be attended by sports ministers or their equivalents of all 27 European Union member states.
According to FIFA regulations, international transfers of 16 and 17 year old footballers is in fact not allowed but the governing body and the EU agreed seven years ago that it would be accepted between European states.
Platini wants those young players to focus on their education, something that would be much harder to do in another country.
The UEFA chairman hopes to influence the position of the European Commission on this matter.
