Mauricio Pochettino is ready to return to management from next season and he will consider his options in the summer, according to Sky Sports. The news comes in the midst of a managerial crisis at Tottenham Hotspur and a growing feeling of an imminent departure of Antonio Conte from the club where Pochettino sat in the dugout for more than five years. The development has unsurprisingly led to speculation about the return of the Argentinian tactician to North London.
Pochettino became the Spurs boss in the summer of 2014, and his spell there reached his peak at the end of 2018/19, when he took them to the Champions League final, which they eventually lost to Liverpool. Six months later, Pochettino was sacked after a lengthy run of poor form, and he later spent 18 months coaching Paris Saint-Germain.
It is believed that during his time in France, Spurs contacted Pochettino with an offer to re-employ him, but his contract with PSG meant it couldn’t happen back then. Now, however, there is no such formal reason for him not to return.
It is believed the 51-year-old had had a number of offers in recent months, but he didn’t feel any of them were right.
