German striker Lukas Podolski has admitted he could leave Bayern Munich after limited first-team chances in his first season at the Allianz-Arena, according to Sky Sports.
Polish born Podolski joined Munich for around 10 million Euros in June 2006 from fellow German side FC Koln. The prolific goal scorer had attracted attention from top European clubs before the start of the 2006 World Cup and proved his worth by scoring 5 and being named “Best Young Player” for his performances.
However, 2007 saw the arrival of world class strikers Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose, which reduced the chances of regular first-team football for Podolski. Despite this Podolski still managed 24 league appearances for Munich, although many were from the bench.
Podolski told German press: “I will tackle this subject after the European championships, I will have enough time on holiday to think about my situation and I will make a decision on my future then.”
“I have made it clear to him (Klinsmann) that I am unhappy with my situation in Munich,” Podolski added.
“He knows what he has in me. He has even said that he understands my problems. We shall sit down together after the Euro and see what happens.”
