Pogba leaning towards new Man United contract

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Paul Pogba, who is in the last year of his contract with Manchester United and has been linked with departure, is now closer to deciding to recommit his future to the club.

The midfielder is reportedly of interest to Real Madrid, with president Florentino Perez considering a move as he strives to establish a new ‘Galactico’ era at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, it seems United’s rampant victory over Newcastle on Saturday made a big impression on the 28-year-old Frenchman, who put in an excellent performance in the match along with freshly returned superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The arrival of the Portuguese superstar back to Old Trafford after 12 years of absence itself appears to have played a part as well.

In the current situation, Pogba is free to talk to other clubs from January 1st, but there is now growing confidence at United that a new contract will be agreed and signed well before the turn of the year.
