Manchester United have informed Paul Pogba that he will not be allowed to leave the club this summer under any circumstances, according to AS.
Apparently, that much has been clear ever since the transfer window in England closed on Thursday last week with United failing to secure a suitable replacement. Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur had been linked at the last moment, but nothing came of it. Now, however, the club have irrevocably closed the door on any possibility of parting ways with Pogba.
The French midfielder was the last to leave the Old Trafford pitch after playing a big part in United’s convincing triumph over Chelsea in the Premier League opening round, apparently trying to reconcile with the fans who had been annoyed by his wish to leave.
Real Madrid, credited with interest in Pogba for a long time, have already spent over €300 million on new players this summer. They now share the view of the English club that moving in for the World Cup winner at this particular moment isn’t a realistic option.
