A report from the Daily Star is today suggesting that out-of-favour Arsenal winger Andrey Arshavin has been told to join Reading by his Russian teammate Pavel Pogrebnyak.
These two men have also played together at Zenit St Petersburg, so do work well together and could form a formidable partnership at the Royals.
Also, Reading do have Russian owner, Anton Zingarevich, who is sure to also be an admirer of the midfielder and they could be ready to end his misery at the Gunners.
Arshavin has spent the majority of this English Premier League campaign on the bench for the London club and with the likes of Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski arriving in the summer, does not look like breaking into the first-team anytime soon.
Brian McDermott’s men have lacked that bit of quality needed in the league so far and the 31-year-old could be just what they are looking for.
If Arshavin and Pogrebnyak could line-up in the same team and play at their best, then McDermott would have a very strong side that could have a good chance of surviving in the league.
Much is sure to depend on the asking price for the Russian from Arsenal, which could be too much for Reading.
