Poland-boss Beenhakker sacked after painful defeat

The chances of Poland to reach the World Cup in South Africa have shortened after the loss against Slovenia (3-0). The defeat means Poland can only finish second in their group. After the match national coach Leo Beenhakker was fired.

Following the loss the President of Poland`s football association, Gregorz Lato, announced his decision to sack Beenhakker on the Polish television.

`This was Beenhakker`s final match. Next week we`ll decide who`s going to be his successor,` Lato said.

The chairman named several candidates to become the new Poland-boss. `Francis Smuda, Matthew Skorza, Henryk Kasperczak en Stefan Majewski are all options for me.`
