Marseille’s Hatem Ben Arfa was on Monday questioned by police as part of their prostitution with a minor investigation in which several France internationals are implicated.

A judicial source stressed that Ben Arfa was quizzed purely as a witness and not because he was involved in the affair which rocked France’s build-up to the World Cup when it first surfaced in April.

Police have already questioned French stars Karim Benzema, Franck Ribery and Sidney Govou over the scandal.

None of this trio has so far been charged in the case, which centres on a suspected prostitution network at a Paris night club frequented by certain French internationals.

Sex with a prostitute under 18 carries a jail term of up to three years and a fine of 45,000 euros (60,000 dollars).
